All poetry, all creation is a tool for transformation.
someone:water is the transmutation of fluidity into materiality.

Beatriz Hausner

The someone:water series represents the merging of all aspects of print culture, from creation, through editing and design to printing and dissemination.

Someone.ca is at the forefront of publishing because it merges the past through careful hand-set type and letterpress printing, to the present, experimenting with digital type, new technologies and design concepts.

Beatriz Hausner, series editor and author of someone:water three The Metaphysics of Water, is a poet whose work is rooted in the legacy of international surrealism. Her poetry has been anthologized and appeared in translation, most recently in Dutch. Her latest collection is Sew Him Up (2010). Enter the Raccoon is scheduled for release in the Fall 2012.

Seth Scriver exhibiting with Katharine Mulherin Contemporary Art Projects, has been published by someone.ca in Opposites Attract, a series of fine press art prints. In this new work, Raccoon becomes both soulful and lackadaisical. The amorphous creature searches for fresh running water in the core of the city.

The Metaphysics of Water is third in the someone:water series which will contain nine fine print broadsides inspired by the element water, for release independently as each title is printed. Copies will be held back by the publisher to build a signed and lettered, fine print limited edition of 26 copies.

Gifted to Someone, CW Jefferies' presses

In October, Someone moved two new presses, previously worked by CW Jefferies, into the storefront at 1691 Dundas Street West.

Donated by Michele Moses whose father had been a friend of Card Dair, the history of these late nineteenth century machines is entwined in the story of graphic design and type creation in Canada.

Gordon Octopus Wheel

More than 50 years ago, the presses arrived in the basement of Michele's childhood home in Caledon. Now it was time to move the press to where it would be loved and employed. Someone jumped at the offer to give the press a new home.
